Cerebral Palsy Awareness Grant Program
Janet, Jenner & Suggs LLC established the Cerebral Palsy Awareness Grants Program as a way to help grassroots organizations provide information, support and hope to individuals and families affected by CP. A special focus of the grants program is to bring attention to the preventable causes of Cerebral Palsy. The firm has gained national attention by litigating cases which clearly showed how Cerebral Palsy could have been prevented with proper medical care during the birthing process.
We wanted to give back to the Cerebral Palsy community in a way that would help further public education about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Cerebral Palsy. We are doing this in unique ways,” said Howard Janet, managing partner.
2006 Grant Recipients
In 2006, the firm awarded grants totaling $20,000 to two grass-roots Cerebral Palsy organizations as part of its Cerebral Palsy Awareness Grants Program.
1) The CP Group, Brandywine, MD
2) The Cerebral Palsy Network, Lacey, WA
The CP Group focuses on adults with Cerebral Palsy, while the CP Network works primarily with children and families.
The Cerebral Palsy Network will use the grant money to expand its parent-to-parent information and support capabilities. The CP Group used grant funds to help underwrite its national conference for adults with Cerebral Palsy — the only conference of its kind in the world, according to organizers, held Oct. 19-22 in Arlington, VA.
